September Events

This September our ladies had a great time at their Bible Study Luncheon in which we finished up the book of Ruth. The next weekend at our Ladies Retreat, we relaxed, prayed, meditated on scripture, ate, played games, and watched \”chick flicks\” together.  It was a very refreshing and enjoyable time for the ladies who attended.  Our youth enjoyed getting messy making pinatas for our upcoming Harvest Party.  Then, while waiting for the layers to dry, they played nickel football/basketball and \”keep the balloon off the floor.\”  We had a planning meeting for some upcoming events after church one day.  Also included are some Sunday School pictures. Not pictured was our Men\’s Prayer Breakfast, but our guys enjoyed a hearty breakfast, Bible study, and time of prayer together.  We also had a church workday for cleaning and raking/spreading more grass seeds.  For both events we forgot to take pictures!

Grand Opening Fellowship Dinner

Of course, at Beacon we love to eat and fellowship together regularly, so after a tremendous Worship Service, we had a delicious dinner–ham, rosemary chicken, lasagna, and lots of sides and desserts!  The best part was getting to know all the new people who stayed for the dinner and fellowshipping with those who came from supporting churches in other states.  Thank you so much to everyone who came and shared our special day!  Praise the Lord!

Grand Opening Service

To God be the glory, Great things He has done!  Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow!  We\’re not sure exactly how many people pulled into the parking lot and came to church Sunday, but our best estimations are around 200!  \”Inexpressible Joy\” was the title of the sermon from I Peter 1:3-9 in which Pastor Bill explained how true joy comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.  We had an overwhelming response during the invitation to accept Christ and pray for others.

We were overjoyed to finally have our Grand Opening service, and it was great to have a group from Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Woodbridge, VA, a group from Good News Free Will Baptist Church in Chesterfield, VA, Pastor Rick Chapman and his family from Hannibal, MO, Don & Marie Wilbanks from New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Joelton, Tennessee, and Free Will Baptist Home Missionaries to Quebec, Canada Danny & Dawn Elliott & family.  Thank you for coming to rejoice with us!!!

Here\’s the sermon.

VBS 2012

We are so thankful to have Pastor and Mrs. Joel & Melanie Franks here from First Free Will Baptist Church in Glaskow, KY!  They brought a group of teens to help us with our Fun Fair and Vacation Bible School.  This year the theme is all about how God, the Creator, has made us.  Our theme verse is Psalm 139:14, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and that my soul knows very well.”

Day One

Day Two

Day Three

Day Four

Day Five

VBS 2012 Day 5

Mystery solved!  \”Those meddling kids\” figured out that it was the detective behind the money box robbery!  He tried to get away, but the \”custodian\” was really an international customs agent trying to figure out whodunnit, too, and she foiled his escape attempts!  Then, as he tried to exit the \”back door,\” the butler, who surprisingly knew karate (unkown to anyone else), put a stop to his escapades very quickly.

They made their very own flip flops in craft time and had Egyptian food for snack time.  Games, once again, were exiting and new.  And during Bible lesson time, 3 more children prayed and asked Jesus to forgive them of their sins and be their Savior!  What a great ending to an awesome week!!!  Praise the Lord!

Here is the final set of pictures from VBS 2012:

VBS 2012 Day 4

Happy Birthday to us!  Today we celebrated everyone\’s birthday because God made us each unique in His image.  More crazy games and songs and \”Password\” in Bible class.  In craft time they made Baby Moses in the bulrushes.  The older kids made baskets for Baby Moses.  Great job, detectives.  Oh, yes, and the big mystery is yet to be solved–so many suspects and only one day left!!!  Can\’t wait to find out \”whodunnit!\”

VBS Day 3

Day 3 of VBS was buggy in a way!  Snack time was \”sand\” with \”worms\” in it!!  They also had fun crossing the \”Nile River\” at game time . . .  During Bible lesson time they learned that Salvation is a free gift from God and all about how Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, and that He will save us from our sins if we ask Him to forgive us.  Then 3 of the children attending decided they wanted to accept God\’s free gift of Salvation, so they prayed and asked Jesus to forgive them of their sins and be their Savior!  Praise the Lord for another fantastic day of Vacation Bible School!  Here are some pictures . . .
